Goddess Mahalaxmi is the goddess of wealth, fortune, power, luxury, beauty, fertility, and auspiciousness. She holds the material fulfilment and contentment and her arms are always raised to shower blessings on her devotees.

Families perform Online Mahalaxmi puja in order to seek the blessings of goddess. According to Hindu lunar calendar, of north India the Mahalaxmi vrat is observed from the 8th day of bright fortnight of bhdrapad and completes on the 8th day of the ashwin month, which falls in the month of September October month of international calendar. This fast is very popular in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh for 16 days in order to seek the blessings of the goddess of wealth and prosperity.

Significance and importance of Mahalaxmi puja:

Mahalaxmi vrat’s significance is scripted in the bhavishya purana one of the 18th puran according to Indian mythology. As the fable goes, yudhisthira the eldest of pandavas enquires lord Krishna about how to get back the lost wealth. Lord Krishna suggested them the ritual fast and puja of Mahalaxmi. The puja of Mahalaxmi replenish them with the health, wealth, prosperity, family and kingdom, which they had lost in the gamble with the divine grace of maa Mahalaxmi.

How to do Mahalaxmi puja:

Early morning the women take holy bath and at certain places women tie a string with 16 knots and sprinkle water on their body using durva {grass} during mahalaxmi vrat, lord sun is also worshipped . The puja is performed with holy rituals and customs. The pot filled with water along with betel leaves is placed with a coconut on top in the puja place. This is then adored with the red cloth, red thread is tied on it, and four lines and swastika are drawn using kumkukm on it.

The pot with all these decorations is now referred asa kumbha representing the supreme powers. Some akshat {rice} and coins are also placed in the kalasha and this kalasha is worshipped as maa mahalaxmi. The simple puja, which includes the lighting of diya, offering of flowers and Prasad, is done after wards.  The person fasting for 16 days does a sankalp to donate 16 items of their choice. They might donate it to the needy people or who has done this fast. The puja is performed with strict rituals and customs. After the puja, recite mahalaxmi strota or mahalaxmi ashtottar shatnamavali followed by the aarti.

Mahalaxmi puja unblocks the hurdles coming in the life due to the effects of dark planets and evil forces. It helps in the rapid progress and provides the comfort, good food and happy life. This puja helps the worshipper to enhance his meetings with the influential people and can overcome from any court cases and hindrances coming in his life.
